Fill & Eyedropper

Fill (bucket)#

The Fill tool floods an area with the foreground colour. Tap inside the region you want to fill.

Options (context bar)#

OptionEffect
Contiguous / GlobalContiguous fills only the connected region you tapped. Global replaces every matching pixel on the layer.
ToleranceHow different a neighbouring pixel's colour can be and still be filled. 0 fills only exact matches; higher values bleed into anti-aliased or noisy edges.
Fill in selection / Fill everywhereRestrict the flood to the active selection, or ignore it.
Ignore foregroundWhen on, the tool treats pixels that already match the foreground colour as fillable — useful for re-flooding an area.

The fill also honours the current dithering pattern (see Gradient & dithering) and, on an indexed sprite, snaps to the palette.

On a very large canvas the fill commits on touch-up, so a stray two-finger undo tap during the same gesture won't leave a half-fill behind.

Eyedropper#

The Eyedropper samples a colour from the canvas and makes it the foreground.

  • **Tap*a pixel to pick its colour.
  • **Long-press*anywhere (default long-press action) to sample without switching tools — the loupe appears so you can place the sample precisely.

Sample source (tool rail)#

SourceSamples from
LayerOnly the active layer.
All LayersThe composited image — what you see. On transparent areas it will pick up a visible reference image.
ReferenceThe active reference image only.

If the sampled colour already exists in the palette, that swatch is selected rather than a duplicate being added. Picked colours are added to Recent colours but do not grow the palette.
