Zoom, grid, guides & canvas size
Navigating#
- **Pinch*to zoom, **two-finger drag*to pan (or the **Hand*tool, or hold Space).
- **View ▸ Fit*re-centres and fits the sprite to the viewport.
- **Actual Size*shows the sprite at 1 : 1.
- The **Preview panel*is an independent navigator — frame a detail there and it stays framed while you draw elsewhere. Drag the mini-map to scroll; use its zoom slider and **Fit / 2× / 4× / 8×*buttons.
The pixel grid#
GRID button (top of the canvas) toggles the grid. Following Aseprite's rule, a 1‑px grid only draws once you're zoomed in far enough to be useful (≈ 8×), even while the preference stays on.
- **Tool rail ▸ Grid*— grid type (pixel / iso / hex), grid step, and the **Snap to Grid / Tiles / Guides*toggles.
Guides#
Add straight guide lines to snap against:
- **Tool rail ▸ Grid ▸ Add Guide — / Add Guide |*adds a horizontal / vertical guide at the cursor.
- Drag a guide to move it; **Clear Guides*removes them all.
- **Snap to Guides*makes the pencil and shapes stick to them.
Canvas size (Properties)#
Sprite ▸ Properties… opens the canvas sheet.

A four-finger tap on the canvas enters full-screen focus mode — every panel and bar hides. Tap the exit pill (top-left) or four-finger tap again to leave.
