Frequently asked

My finger won't draw / draws when I want to scroll

By default a finger draws and two fingers pan & zoom. The moment an Apple Pencil touches the screen, the Pencil takes over drawing. To make one finger navigate instead of draw, open Settings ▸ Gestures ▸ One-finger drag and choose the pan option.

How do I export for my game engine?

Use the export button in the top bar. PNG export is transparent and at native pixel size by default (Unity / Godot ready). For animation, export a sprite sheet with the JSON metadata, or GIF / APNG. ASE and PSD keep your layers.

I closed the app / it crashed and lost work

Ambersprite auto-saves a recovery snapshot continuously. On the gallery screen tap Recover unsaved (it appears when a recoverable session exists), or use Back to canvas to return to the sprite that was open.

Which files can I open?

Ambersprite opens its own .pxstudio projects, plus PNG, JPEG, GIF, APNG, ASE / .aseprite, PSD, and Tiled maps. It exports PNG, GIF, APNG, ASE, PSD, Tiled, sprite sheets, PNG sequences and video.

Tilemaps

Draw your tile art on a normal layer, open the Layers panel and tap To tilemap to slice it into a tileset. Then pick a tile from the Tiles panel and stamp it on the canvas. The context bar switches between Stamp tiles and Edit tile art, and offers rectangular / isometric / hexagonal grids and auto-tiling.

Reporting a bug

Email the address above with: what you did, what you expected, what happened, and a screenshot or screen recording if you can. If iOS offers to share a diagnostic report after a crash, attaching it helps a lot.
